| Packet loss probabilities and the mean and variance of end to end packet delay are the major performance metrics of interest in high speed networks. Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) being the transport mode of choice for B-ISDN uses short, fixed length cells to transmit the variable length packets generated by users. This paper investigates the performance characteristics of ATM networks. |
