| Turkish Psychedelia, which has its roots in the local 1970s genre of Anatolian Rock, preserves its analog sonic timbres while integrating distinct digital and contemporary elements. Over the past two decades, it has emerged as a notable phenomenon in local and global music scenes. As part of my ethnographic research on Turkish Psychedelia, this paper explores the 2019 concert by the artist Elektro Hafız at Babylon, an alternative music venue in Istanbul, where the audience spontaneously participated in Halay, a traditional folk circle dance. As with many instances in Turkish psychedelic music, this moment weaves together diverse cultural, political, social, musical, and emotional elements that sometimes conflict.
